Copyright & Takedown Policy
Effective date: 29 April 2026
This policy explains how ClearSteps handles intellectual property rights and the process for submitting a copyright takedown request.
4.1 Our Position on Copyright
ClearSteps respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects users to do the same. We have built our predictive question papers, skill analyses, and learning tools as original work based on the analysis of publicly available board examination patterns.
Where we reference content from third-party sources (such as NCERT textbooks or past CBSE board papers), we rely on:
- The fair dealing exceptions under Section 52 of the Indian Copyright Act, 1957, particularly Sections 52(1)(h) (use of short passages in a collection of curriculum-aligned content for educational purposes) and 52(1)(i) (reproduction in the course of instruction).
- The use of paraphrased content, structural references, and analytical commentary rather than verbatim reproduction of substantial copyrighted text.
4.2 If You Believe Your Copyright Has Been Infringed
If you are a copyright owner (or authorised representative) and believe content on the Platform infringes your rights, please send a written notice to our Takedown Officer:

3. The specific URL(s) on the Platform where the allegedly infringing content appears.

5. A statement made in good faith that the use of the material is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
6. Your signature (electronic or physical).
4.3 Our Response
Upon receiving a valid takedown notice, we will:
- Acknowledge receipt within 24 hours.
- Investigate the claim and respond with a decision within 15 working days.
- If the claim is valid, remove or disable access to the disputed content promptly.
- Notify the user who uploaded or is associated with the content (if applicable).
4.4 Counter-Notice
If a user believes their content was wrongly removed, they may file a counter-notice with the same details, explaining why the content does not infringe. We will evaluate counter-notices on a case-by-case basis.
4.5 Repeat Infringers
We reserve the right to terminate the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe third-party copyrights.
