Class 9 is the year that determines your Class 10 performance. Triangles, circles, coordinate geometry, polynomials — all form the direct foundation for board exam chapters.
Chapter-wise Marks Distribution
| Unit | Chapters | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| Number Systems | 1 | 10 |
| Algebra | 2-4 | 20 |
| Coordinate Geometry | 3 | 4 |
| Geometry | 5-9 | 27 |
| Mensuration | 10-11 | 13 |
| Statistics and Probability | 12-13 | 6 |
Triangles (10 marks — most important)
- Congruence: SSS, SAS, ASA, AAS, RHS — every criterion with proof
- Angle sum property — theorem and proof
- Exterior angle theorem — proof and application
Surface Areas and Volumes (11 marks)
- Formulae for cube, cuboid, sphere, hemisphere, cone, cylinder — all shapes
- Combined solids: break into components, calculate separately, add
Easiest Marks
- Heron Formula (5 marks): one formula, two steps
- Coordinate Geometry (4 marks): only plotting and reading coordinates
- Probability (4 marks): only experimental probability
Tip
For geometry proofs, always write: Given, To Prove, Construction (if needed), Proof. CBSE awards separate marks for each step. A complete proof gets full marks even with a small error in the middle.
