Physics — Weightage Analysis

Chapter-wise marks distribution for TS Inter 1st Year Physics — based on the official TGBIE Model Question Paper (March 2025 onwards). Paper total: 60 marks, 3 hours.

Paper Structure

Section A — VSAQ

10 × 2 = 20

Answer ALL 10 questions (compulsory). Very short answers.

Section B — SAQ

6 × 4 = 24

Answer ANY SIX of 8 short answer questions.

Section C — LAQ

2 × 8 = 16

Answer ANY TWO of 3 long answer questions.

Revision Strategy Based on Weightage

1

The 3 LAQ chapters (Work/Energy/Power, Oscillations, Thermodynamics) yield up to 16 marks — master all three so you can answer any two confidently.

2

Motion in a Plane (Vectors) is the richest SAQ cluster: 2 SAQs and a VSAQ appear in the model paper — cover parallelogram law, dot/cross products, and direction cosines.

3

All 10 VSAQs (Section A, 20 marks) are compulsory and span 8+ chapters — broad but shallow coverage is key here; one-line answers count.

4

Section B asks you to answer 6 of 8 SAQs — but prepare at least 7 topics so you have choice. Thermal Properties and Vectors are reliably represented.

5

Kinetic Theory and Fluids appear only as VSAQs in the MQP — don't over-invest in these; a crisp definition is enough.

6

Thermal Properties chapter spans both Section A (2 VSAQs) and Section B (1 SAQ) — high marks per hour of preparation.
