CBSE Class 10 Admit Card 2026

How to get your admit card, what to check when you receive it, what to do if there's an error, and exactly what to carry on exam day.

Important

CBSE does not release the Class 10 admit card for individual download. It is issued to schools only. Websites claiming you can download it directly are not official.

How to Get Your Admit Card — Step by Step

1

Admit card is issued to schools only

CBSE sends Class 10 admit cards directly to schools. No individual download is possible from cbse.gov.in. Your school's examination coordinator will receive and distribute them.

2

Collect from school before exam week

Schools distribute admit cards 1–2 weeks before the first paper. Ask your class teacher or school office if you haven't received it 10 days before your first exam.

3

Verify all details immediately

Check: your full name, roll number, registration number, photograph, date of birth, school name and code, exam centre address, and all subjects with dates. Report any error at once.

4

Report errors to the school exam coordinator

Name, photo, subject list, or centre errors must be corrected by the school via the CBSE regional office. Never attempt to correct an admit card yourself.

5

Keep safe until result is declared

You need the admit card to check results online, for re-evaluation applications, and for Class 11 college admissions. Keep the original — don't rely on a photocopy.

What to Verify When You Receive It

Check every field the moment you collect your admit card. Errors reported immediately can be corrected — errors discovered on exam day cannot.

Full name

Must match exactly as registered with CBSE — check spelling including middle name. Even a missing initial is an error.

Father's name

Verify spelling — used in all future CBSE documents including marksheet and DigiLocker.

Date of birth

Must match your birth certificate on record with CBSE. A wrong DOB affects all downstream documents.

Photograph

Must be recent and clearly show your face. Blurry, old, or mismatched photos must be flagged to your school immediately.

Roll number

Note this separately in your phone and a physical backup. You need this exact number to check results on cbseresults.nic.in.

Registration number

Your permanent CBSE number — different from roll number. Used for DigiLocker, re-evaluation, and compartment applications.

School name and code

Verify both are correct. A wrong school code can cause issues with marksheet generation.

Subjects and exam dates

All enrolled subjects must appear with correct subject codes and dates. Cross-check every date against the official CBSE date sheet.

Exam centre address

Your centre may not be your own school. Read the full address, plan your route in advance, and do a dry run if needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the CBSE Class 10 admit card released for 2026?

CBSE typically releases the Class 10 admit card in February 2026, 2–3 weeks before board exams begin. The exact date is announced on cbse.gov.in.

How do I get my CBSE Class 10 admit card?

The admit card is distributed by your school — CBSE sends it to schools directly. Students cannot download it individually. Collect it from your school's exam coordinator.

What is the difference between roll number and registration number?

Your roll number is assigned by CBSE specifically for the board exam — it appears on your admit card and is what you enter to check results on cbseresults.nic.in. Your registration number is your permanent CBSE ID assigned when you enrolled — it is used for DigiLocker, re-evaluation applications, and compartment exams. Both appear on your admit card. Note both down separately.

What if my name is spelled wrong on the admit card?

Report it immediately to your school's examination coordinator. The school contacts the CBSE regional office for correction. Corrections must be made before the exam begins — never attempt to correct the admit card yourself.

My admit card has the wrong photo — what do I do?

Report it to your school's exam coordinator the same day you receive the card. The school will contact CBSE for a corrected admit card. Do not go to the exam hall with a mismatched photo — the invigilator may refuse entry. Report immediately, not the night before the exam.

Are watches allowed in the CBSE Class 10 exam hall?

Simple analogue watches are generally allowed. Smartwatches, digital watches, and fitness bands are NOT permitted and will be confiscated at the entry gate. Some exam centres do not allow any watches — check with your school or exam centre in advance.

Is the admit card needed after exams too?

Yes. Keep the original admit card safe — you need it to check results on cbseresults.nic.in and for college admissions, re-evaluation requests, and DigiLocker access.

What happens if I forget or lose my admit card on exam day?

You will not be permitted inside the examination hall without the admit card. Photocopies are not accepted. If lost before the exam, contact your school immediately — they may arrange a duplicate with the principal's signature and stamp. Do not leave this to the morning of the exam.
